3 Day Kakadu – Cultural Program 2.

      This is option is for those who want to gain an extra insight into the Aboriginal Culture.  It enables you to visit the main Aboriginal Art sites, the Visitor and Cultural centre and join the locally operated Animal Tracks for a 7 hour tour.  Essentially you travel on the Backpacker Bus on Day 1 and 3 of the tour, on Day 2 you have some spare time in the morning to maybe undertake a Yellow water cruise and spend time at the Cultural Centre before joining Animal Tracks in the afternoon.  The only other options you need decide upon is which, if any, boat cruise you may wish to do.

Day 1 (LD) - Travelling out towards Kakadu we cross the Adelaide, Mary and South Alligator Rivers.  View and learn about the savannah woodland and wetland habitats that we travel through.  We visit the Bowalli Visitor centre and browse the displays and gain an initial insight to the park before heading to the Nourlangie region. We spend most of the day here, viewing ancient Aboriginal Art sites, having lunch and walking in to the remote  Gubara pools for a swim.  We finish off the day viewing the sunset on the Arnhemland escarpment from the Nawurlandja lookout. Over night camp at Cooinda Resort.

Day 2 (BLD) – Today you have some spare time by yourself in the morning at Cooinda to spend time at the Warradjan Cultural Centre and maybe a Yellow Waters cruise before joining the locally operated Animal Tracks for an afternoon tour around the region.  Rejoin the Backpacker Bus group in the evening.

Day 3 (BL) - This morning we travel to the Ubirr Rock region. Learn more about the Aboriginal culture, viewing ancient artwork in the galleries as we meander along and make our way to the top of a rock outcrop for a breathtaking 360 degree view of the surrounding country. Making our way back towards Darwin, stop at the Bark Hut for a tasty Barra Burger & Chips lunch before continuing on to the Adelaide River. Here you have the option to see the spectacular Jumping Crocodiles. or spend time at the Window on the Wetlands display. Arriving back in Darwin, check in at your hostels and then head down to the Mindill Beach markets for a final sunset and farewells.
